Ojeda gets massive Supercars opportunity

Jayden Ojeda has received the biggest opportunity of his career by landing a co-drive at reigning champions Erebus Motorsport.

Ojeda will share the #9 Erebus Camaro with Jack Le Brocq at the Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 enduros this year.

The duo know each other well having raced together at Matt Stone Racing last year and finished ninth, but contended for a top five spot before a late slow stop.

Ojeda, 24, has participated in four previous Great Races with the first a Garry Rogers Motorsport wildcard with Tyler Everingham and the rest with Matt Stone Racing.

At MSR he had three co-drivers in as many years with 2024 being the first with a familiar partner despite racing for a new team.

In addition to Supercars experience, Ojeda has won the last two Bathurst 6 Hour races and has been busy racing Mercedes Gts both in Australia and abroad.

It completes an all new co-driver line up for Erebus with Todd Hazelwood and Ojeda in for David Russell and Jack Perkins.

Ojeda is hopeful of improving his career-best P9 with Erebus in 2024.

“I’m really looking forward to driving with Jack again,” Ojeda said.

“We had a good run last year and I’m eager to build on that, particularly now with the Erebus crew behind us.

“The team is top-notch, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”

Erebus Motorsport Team Principal Brad Tremain believes the union already formed between Ojeda and Le Brocq will be a strength come September.

“We’re all looking forward to having Jayden join us for the enduros,” Tremain said.

“His experience and having already paired with Jack make him an obvious choice and alongside Brodie and Todd in the #1 car, we think we’ve got a really strong line up to take on Sandown and the Mountain.”

With the Townsville 500 this weekend, the enduros are not far away.
