Matt Campbell through to Spa 24 Superpole

Matt Campbell is the sole Aussie to make it through to the GT World Challenge 24 Hours of Spa Superpole session in the #92 Porsche, with Supercars Kiwi Jaxon Evans also going through.
The hundredth anniversary of the legendary around the clock race saw a field of 66 GT machines contest the qualifying sessions, with the best top-20 average lap times getting passage through to the Superpole session.
Fresh from his efforts at the Le Mans 24, Porsche factory driver Matty Campbell has teamed up with former IMSA GT3 championship winning teammate Mathieu Jaminet, and his current WEC partner Frederic Makowiecki in the #92 SSR Herberth Porsche 911 GT3 R (992), finishing ninth overall with an average lap time of 2:15.828.
In a tight session, their time was +0.553s short of the provisional pole setters in the Grasser Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO 2, with the #51 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 in second, with the Pro Cup class teams filling the first ten spots.

Kiwi Supercars racer Jaxon Evans qualified sixth fastest in the #23 Phantom Global Racing Porsche.
There’s three other Aussies in the field, including GT World Challenge Silver Cup leading driver Calan Williams in the #30 BMW M4 GT3, but they could only manage 46th outright, and 11th in the Bronze Cup class.
Mercedes AMG Junior Factory driver Jordan Love is competing in the #888 Triple Eight-JMR AMG, with the team finishing in 55th outright, but second in class with a time of 2:17.672.

Lastly, also in the Pro Am Cup, is Bathurst local Brad Schumacher, with the Haas RT #38 Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II team finishing in 64th, sixth in class, and one qualifying spot better than Kiwi Earl Bamber in the #61 EBM Porsche.
Prior to the event, which Schumacher described as a childhood dream, the Aussie driver unfortunately came down with Glandular fever, which will likely hamper his time in the car over the 24 hour race as he battles the fatigue that comes along with the virus.
The Superpole session will take place at 7:45 am AEST, and can be viewed free online via the GT World Challenge website.
