The Canberra Festival of Speed will return in 2025 and is promised to be “bigger and better”.

After debuting in March 2024 with a claimed attendance of 13,500 and over 220 cars, the event will return on January 25-26 2025.

The event is run by Project Supercars in partnership with the Canberra Racing Club held at Thoroughbred Park and organisers are targeting over 20,000 fans next year.

Project Supercars’ Peter Bakavgas said the success of the inaugural event will push organisers for greater success next year.

“We were so proud of the positive feedback we received after this year’s event,” he said.

“The team has been pursued for months by people asking when the event will happen again, there’s so much excitement and anticipation.

“It has really inspired us to make the Canberra Festival of Speed bigger and better in 2025.

“There are more big announcements to come.”

This year’s Canberra Festival of Speed included vehicles such as a Ferrari F40, Lola F1 car, Ferrari P4 Le Mans, Lamborghini Aventador and McLaren Senna.

The Matt Stone Racing Chevrolet Camaro Gen3 Supercar of Canberra’s own Cameron Hill also made a popular appearance.

“These special cars are the heart of our event and why people travelled from far and wide in year 1,” Bakavgas said.

“Some of these cars are vehicles that people would only ever see on screens, and not in person and that’s a massive part of what’s driving our success.

“People can’t believe the up-close access they have to these incredible cars, their owners and to see them under throttle is the icing on the cake.”

Canberra Racing Club Chief Executive Officer Darren Pearce said the inaugural event made a big impact off the track.

“Canberra’s newest driver of tourism, the inaugural Canberra Festival of Speed attracted patrons from near and far with over 30% of tickets purchased outside of the ACT,” he said.

“The long weekend is a wonderful opportunity for us to grow tourism to Canberra and showcase everything our wonderful territory has to offer.”
