New Kiwi focused Supercars show

Tonight Supercars will release a new show on YouTube tonight, providing a special insight into the five New Zealand drivers on the grid.

The show called Road to Taupo documents the journeys of Kiwi racers Ryan Wood, Jaxon Evans, Matt Payne, Andre Heimgartner and Richie Stanaway as they prepare for next weekend’s home race.

The inaugural Taupo Super400 will be a big occasion for all five of them, being the first Supercars round in Aotearoa since 2022 and just the second in the last five years.

The first of two 20-minute episodes will be on Supercars.com and Supercars YouTube from 18.00 AEST tonight whilst episode 2 follows at the same time on Sunday night.

From race days to personal anecdotes, this series provides an authentic portrayal of the challenges and camaraderie among the quintet of current Kiwi drivers.

Supercars Head of Broadcast Nathan Prendergast said it will be the perfect way to prepare for the Taupo Super400.

“It’s incredible to have such a strong representation of New Zealand drivers in the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship,” he said.

“We have tracked the five fast Kiwis across the start of the season as they prepare to race on home soil in front of a packed house in Taupō.

“We delve into the close personal bonds of friendship and family life along with understanding the drive to win on home soil. This mini doc is a great insight into the anticipation of this inaugural event.”
