D’ALBERTO APPEAL DISMISSED

D'Alberto Tasmania

By Thomas Miles

Tony D’Alberto’s appeal on the decision to not award points for the opening TCR race at Tasmania has been dismissed.

The decision has been on the eve of the following SpeedSeries round at Phillip Island after the appeal went through a tribunal hearing.

Although D’Alberto’s race 1 win at AWC Race Tasmania initially received points, they were removed on the following day after a GRM protest

At the time D’Alberto was so angry he refused to race the finale and parked his Honda.

Post event D’Alberto and Wall Racing appealed against the allocation of no points for the race, and a hearing occurred earlier this week.

The appeal was official dismissed with the Stewards’ decision being deemed correct by the tribunal constituting chair Matthew Selley, Tribunes Bradley Tubb and Peter Davis plus Secretary Lawrie Schmitt.

As a result race 1 remains point-less whilst the rest of the weekend’s races are unaffected.

“The elapsed time of Race 1 was 11 minutes and 45 seconds (of the scheduled duration of 30 minutes) and 10 laps were completed (of the scheduled 30 laps). Therefore, as a matter of fact, the cars did not complete 50% of the scheduled duration or distance of Race 1. Therefore, by force of Article 5.12.10 the CRSR, no points could be awarded.” Read the decision document.

Now official, it leaves the championship in a fascinating position heading to the island with Zac Soutar leading the way but only one point separates himself from Ben Bargwanna and Jordan Cox.

TCR begins its SpeedSeries round at Phillip Island with practice at 11.25.
