O’Keeffe keen to replicate past success

By Thomas Miles

Dylan O’Keeffe will unleash a menacing new black livery on the Lynk & Co as he and Ashley Seward Motorsport hope to replicate past success at Phillip Island.

After completing the first two Supercheap Auto TCR Australia rounds in the same colours it ran last year, at Phillip Island the only Lynk & Co has shifted from white to black.

The new look will hit the track for the first time on Friday when the SpeedSeries round at Phillip Island begins.

Ashley Seward Motorsport is fresh from a successful trip to Symmons Plains where O’Keeffe took a win and a podium on Sunday.

Although the results currently remain provisional due to a Wall Racing protest, the team can take plenty of confidence into round three.

O’Keeffe and ASM are no strangers to success around the sweeping seaside circuit.

The Victorian drove the ASM Alfa Romeo to victory in two races during the inaugural TCR Australia season in 2019, and the Victorian is keen to rekindle that strong form.

“We learnt a lot about the Lynk & Co at Sandown and Tassie, but Phillip Island is a high-grip circuit which we haven’t been to so far this year,” said O’Keeffe.

“I’m keen to stretch the legs of our new-look Autoglym TCR on Phillip Island’s European-style circuit. I haven’t driven on the new track surface there yet, but we feel that the car is really going to suit it.

“Symmons is a unique track, and it’s also very dirty and dusty. The set-up work that we did was   heading in the right direction, so I’m really looking forward to the fast and flowing nature of Phillip Island.

“We’ve got good history there. ASM and myself won there in the first year of TCR in the Alfa Romeo, so this we’re aiming to repeat history.

“And the new livery reflects a new outlook for our team. All black and all eyes forward.”

The Lynk & Co is one of a season-high seven manufacturers coming to Phillip Island with Alfa Romeo rejoining the 14-car field.

the first of two 20-minute sessions on Friday, kicks off the action at 11:25am AEST on April 12.
The two-part qualifying commences at 11:25am on Saturday, live and free on 7plus, before the opening race of the weekend 3:15pm.

Sunday’s two races will be live on 7plus, at 1:25pm and 4:10pm.
