Kostecki making on track comeback

For the first time since lifting the championship trophy in Adelaide, Brodie Kostecki is back in a Supercar today.

After Monday’s bombshell announcement the championship-winning combination of Kostecki and Erebus Motorsport will reunite at the upcoming Taupo Super400 after two rounds away, the next important step has begun.

The reigning champion will reacquaint himself with the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 at a test session at Winton Motor Raceway today.

It will be Kostecki’s first time driving a Supercar since he sealed a stunning 2023 championship crown on the streets of Adelaide in November last year.

It ends a 136-day gap between Supercar drives since the 2023 Adelaide 500 last November.

Since then Kostecki has not been seen in the Supercars world due to an apparent disagreement between team and driver and missed both the Bathurst 500 opener and Melbourne SuperSprint.

Todd Hazelwood subbed in car #99 but the #1 will be back when Supercars goes across the ditch next weekend with Kostecki and Erebus reuniting, ending a messy saga.

The Winton test will be an important step in Kostecki’s comeback, being his first chance to drive the 2024 Camaro with the revised aero tweaks.

Kostecki will be supported by his substitute Hazelwood, plus ongoing full-time teammate Jack Le Brocq and the rest of the Erebus team at the important session.

Erebus will not be alone with Tickford and Thomas Randle also in action conducting a Supercars-sanctioned Ford engine test.
