Easter prize awaits in final act of sprintcar summer

By Auto Action

Drivers will be chasing a special Easter egg at this weekend’s annual Easter Sprintcar Trail which will end the 2023/24 season on a high.

Some of the biggest names in sprintcars will be taking on three-round roadshow which begins at Avalon Raceway on Good Friday before heading to Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway on Saturday and wrapping up in a big way at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway on Sunday.

The Warrnambool finale has currently attracted 60 entries across the three classes that will be on shoe including Super Rods and Late Models in addition to Sprintcars.

Almost half (25) of those are sprintcars and a competitive field is forming.

Leading the way will be 2023 Australian Sprintcar champion Jock Goodyer who has been in scintillating form this season wherever he goes, also winning the last Sprintcar feature at Sungold Stadium Premier Speedway.

Former Classic champion Brock Hallett is another with plenty of fast racing miles under his belt recently.

There will be plenty of focus on home hero Jamie Veal, who is not only looking for a win in the race but also the Total Tools Warrnambool Track Championship which he currently leads.

Grant Anderson won December’s Max’s Race and is always fast at Premier Speedway, while the likes of Tasmania’s Tate Frost and veteran Brett Milburn can also be expected to perform.

Late Models and Super Rods will be vying for their respective inaugural Track Championships.

Tasmanian Callum Harper is the points leader of the Late Model Championship however, is closely followed by Peter Nicola with Chevy Edwards only 20 points off the lead setting up for a great final round this weekend.

Freshly crowned Victorian Super Rod Champion Jacob Pitcher leads the JD Race Parts Championship and recent form would show Pitcher will be hard to defeat for the Track Championship.

Avalon will be held on Good Friday followed by Borderline on Saturday and the Warrnambool finale on Sunday where on-track action begins at 17.00 AEDT.
