Potential sell out expected for ITM Taupō Super400

By Reese Mautone

Fans looking to attend the upcoming ITM Taupō Super400 are being urged to secure their tickets as soon as possible, with a potential sell-out expected for race days.

General admission tickets, corporate experiences and grandstand seating for the Saturday and Sunday have sold in an unprecedented fashion, leaving only limited options available for fans still keen on seeing a piece of the action at Taupō International Motorsport Park.

Starting at $30 each, general admission for Friday the 19th of April is the most readily available ticket to purchase, with grandstand options becoming very scarce as the three-day event approaches.

On the Friday, fans will be able to see eight hours of on-track action, bearing witness to the first-ever Supercars session at the Taupō International Motorsport Park.

Supercars Chief Operating Officer Tim Watsford is urging Supercars fans to secure their tickets before a potential sell-out for the ITM Taupō Super400 is declared.

“Essentially most tickets are sold, a majority of the tickets sold out within a week of going on sale back in November, which is extraordinary,’’ Watsford said.

“We need to ensure the fan experience is world-class, and to do that we must work to a capacity that factors in the food and beverage offerings available, amenities, parking, security and other key parts of information.

“It’s unprecedented to think we are close to exhausting ticketing options available for an event of this scale, which is great news, but we are definitely getting close to considering that kind of declaration which is why we are encouraging fans to lock in tickets as soon as possible.

“Friday’s general admission tickets start from as low as $30, and fans on the opening day will get to see eight hours of on-track action, including the first-ever session for Supercars at Taupō International Motorsport Park.

“There will also be autograph sessions with all of the Supercars drivers, pit lane walks and plenty of off-track activities to take in, so we’re hoping fans lock in their Friday tickets as soon as possible.”

The event coincides with performances at the Great Lake Centre by popular country music artists Kaylee Bell on April 19, and Six60 on April 20.

Tickets to these performances will be sold separately from race day tickets.

In addition to the action at the circuit, all 24 Repco Championship Supercars will be driving from the circuit to Taupō’s Lakeside Precinct, meeting up with hundreds of fans on Thursday, April 18th at 3:45 PM, local time.

The event marks an exciting moment in Supercars history, with a trip to Taupō now cemented in the Supercars calendar for at least the next three years.

Tickets to the ITM Taupō Super400 are available through Supercars.com and Ticketek.
