Big move pushes Jones to another big win

By Thomas Miles

A special move has sent the dominant Harri Jones to back to back crushing Carrera Cup wins in a clean Friday twilight affair.

Despite Dale Wood getting a fast start and leading into turn 1, he had no answer when Jones launched an aggressive and calculated counterattack at the fast turn 9.

Wood had no response as the 2022 champion eased his way to a big 6s win.

Right behind Wood was young gun Ryder Quinn and Carrera Cup rookie Scott Pye took a solid fourth.

Pro Am was also one sided being dominated by Adrian Flack

After more than 24 hours of waiting since their last on track session, Wood’s eagerness saw him shoot to the lead.

Wood jumped Jones off the line and was able to defend the lead into turn 1 despite the 2022 champion weaving around.

Despite the more experienced Wood getting the wholeshot, he had no response to Jones when he went on the attack at turn 9.

Jones caught Wood napping with a crisp dive down the inside at the fast left hander and a lap later the battle was effectively over with Jones already more than second up the road.

Russell was an early victim after clipping the tyre bundle at the first corner and experiencing a massive lock up at turn 3, he dropped out of action as soon as turn 4 with suspected coolant issues.

As the top five of Jones, Wood, Quinn, Pye and McBrdie settled in pretty early,  Hall, O’Keeffe and Glenn Wood fought wildly to be right behind them.

As the race went on Carrera Cup rookie Pye struggled to keep up with third placed Quinn and had McBride applying the blowtorch.

But he could not get past whilst Giltrap and Coulthard raced hard to stay in the top 10.

Jones was once again in a league of his own, cruising to another commanding win.

He will aim to take a hat-trick when the finale takes place at 18.30 AEDT Saturday evening.
