Gallery: Cameron Hill and classics wow the capital

By Mark Bisset

Cameron Hill and the Matt Stone Racing Chevy Camaro put on a show for fans at the Canberra Festival of Speed last weekend.

One of the big attractions was Hill, who unleashed a Supercar on the streets of the capital for the first time since the last street race in 2002.

In a busy week, Hill visited Melba Copland College, Canberra Airport, then took his Camaro on closed roads around the National Arboretum to help launch the Canberra FOS.

On Saturday the Supercar was displayed in Majura Park Shopping Centre for an autograph session.

Capping off a fun week, Hill said he was stoked to have the car at home to give Canberrans a taste of Supercars.

“It’s just been fantastic to be able to catch up with so many of our local sponsors and fans,” he said.

“Not often we get an actual Supercar here, so hopefully we’ll get the opportunity to do it again in the future.

“I think some people this week may not have actually seen a Gen3 Supercar in the flesh before, so to give them that opportunity is really cool.

“To see the smiles on so many little and big kids’ faces has been great.”

Other highlights included a Formula 1 LC88, two S5000 racers and some of Adrian Portelli’s elite special vehicles.

Below is a gallery featuring some of the cars that stunned the fans at the Canberra Festival of Speed.
