Miller desperate to achieve ‘new wishes’ in 2024
With his 2024 KTM colours revealed, Australia’s MotoGP star Jack Miller has a “new list of wishes” he wants to achieve in his second season at the Austrian squad, which feels “ready” to chase a championship.
Miller and teammate Brad Binder will race with near identical colours to last year when they delivered KTM second in the constructors championship which is the team’s best since joining the premier class in 2017.
After losing his Ducati factory ride at the end of 2022, Miller moved to KTM for 2023 and it started with plenty of promise with a double podium at Jerez.
However, that proved to be the highpoint as the Aussie fought hard, but struggled to retain race pace and match his front-running teammate Binder.
Binder finished fourth in the championship with 293 points while Miller was 11th with 163 points.
Despite the discrepancy the Aussie had big chances of victory at both Texas and Valencia but crashed out of contention.
In the recent Sepang set Binder was seventh and Miller was 14th while Tech3 rookie Pedro Acosta was ninth.
After coming to grips with his new environment last year, Miller is determined to make the most of the experience and bring new “wishes” to life.
“2023 was a year of learning and of growth for me as a person and as a rider,” Miller said.
“Towards the back half of the season we really got comfortable with the bike and were able to start challenging for positions where we needed to be.
“In KTM, and my dealings especially in the racing department, when they find something or find a pathway – new ideas, better ideas and strategies – then they go all in on to have them on the track as soon as possible.
“Having that power and that motivation and that backing from the company is awesome as a rider.
“I didn’t get to achieve all the wishes I wanted in 2023. I have a whole new list of wishes for 2024.”
KTM Motorsports Director Pit Beirer made it clear KTM is “ready” to take on Ducati and chase a championship.
“I feel that the package is very complete now and we have all the right people in the right positions and also the rider line-up makes me very happy,” he said.
“Everybody could grow over these last years. We’ve had these MotoGP wins and achieved a lot last season: 4th in the championship, 2nd in the Constructors.
“But, of course, our big target, our big dream, is pushing for the world championship and I feel in 2024 we are ready to do so.”
The 2024 MotoGP season beings at Qatar on March 8-10.
