WILLOWBANK POSTPONES JANUARY TRACK ACTIVITY

Severe weather has forced Willowbank Raceway to postpone its on track activity for the remainder of the month.

Events scheduled for the remainder of January included Test and Tunes on the 19th and 27th, plus a Queensland Drag Racing Championship event on the 20th.

A Willowbank Raceway statement stated recent inclement weather has impacted track works and ensured it would not be fit for hosting events.

Below is the full Willowbank Raceway statement.

“The weather Gods haven’t been kind to us!” it read.

“As you are all aware it has been another week of severe weather events with more on the way.

“This has impacted our ability to continue the work on the track that we had planned for this week and therefore the track is still not ready for racing.

“We cannot start the track prep for racing until the final grind is completed and signed off by the contractors and we cant get this work done until the weather clears.

“This work cant happen in the rain or on a wet track, so we are all hoping for a few days of dry conditions so the track work can get done.

“Unfortunately this all means that the events planned for January will need to be postponed. This includes the Test and Tunes, Racer Test Day and the QDRC/Street Final.

“We will update our Calendar of Events as soon as possible and when we are confident that the track will be ready for racing, we will re-schedule these events.”
