Bottas coming back to Adelaide Motorsport Festival

By Thomas Miles

Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas enjoyed his time at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival so much he is coming back again in 2024.

The Alfa Romeo driver attended the 2023 event in March and drove the 2016 Bathurst 1000-winning Holden VF Commodore V8 Supercar of Will Davison and Jonathan Webb and an Alfa Romeo GTV Group A touring car.

Bottas will head to Adelaide straight after the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and spent Sunday, March 17 at the parklands track and stay in Australia for the Grand Prix at Albert Park the following weekend.

The Finn enjoyed his experience driving around the former F1 street circuit and revealed his return will include a wider selection of cars.

“I loved the Adelaide Motorsport Festival last year, so I’m definitely coming back in March,” Bottas said.

“I’ll be driving some really crazy cars, including some rally cars, legendary Aussie muscle cars and maybe some surprises.

“So I can’t wait to see you there.”

Bottas is well known for making an impact as a Williams rookie before stepping up to Mercedes where he scored 10 Grand Prix wins, including the 2019 Australian Grand Prix.

After losing his Mercedes seat to George Russell last year, he moved to Alfa Romeo where he has scored points on 13 occasions and currently sits 15th in the championship.

He has recently spent a lot of time in Australia with Adelaide based cyclist and partner Tiffany Cromwell.

In other Fomrula 1 themed action at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, the Australian Grand Prix-winning Benetton B190 Ford and the V10-powered Benetton B200 will also be in action.

The Adelaide Motorsport Festival will be held on March 16-17.
