Ford Mustang GT3 revealed

Ford has taken the covers off its new Ford Mustang GT3, which is earmarked to go racing in 2024.
The “Blue Oval’s” new Seventh Generation challenger was unveiled at the famous Circuit de la Sarthe during the 100th anniversary of the Le Mans 24 Hours race.
Ford will be racing at the iconic endurance race with at least Proton Competition, which is the first customer team to officially declare its intent to field a Mustang.

It will be racing with the Ford badge in the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship season which includes next year’s Le Mans 24 Hour.
The car itself boasts a bright and bold new design, which showcases the new Ford Performance logo. The body is based on the all-new 2024 Mustang Dark Horse.
The unveiling of the new GT3 machine falls in line with the other Seventh Generation Mustangs racing around the world in Supercars and NASCAR.
Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley said Le Mans was the perfect scene to reveal the “Blue Oval’s” latest weapon, where the brand has won the 24 Hours race four times.
“Ford and Le Mans are bound together by history and now we’re coming back to the most dramatic, most rewarding and most important race in the world,” said Farley.
“It is not Ford versus Ferrari anymore. It is Ford versus everyone.
“Going back to Le Mans is the beginning of building a global motorsports business with Mustang, just like we are doing with Bronco and Raptor off-road.”

Ford last tasted the ultimate success at Le Mans in 2016 when Joey Hand, Dirk Muller and Sebastien Bourdais drove a Chip Ganassi Ford GT to victory in the LMGTE Pro class and 18th overall.
The famous American brand hopes its latest creation can create many more happy memories at the famous French circuit.
To make the new Mustang happen, Ford turned to two longtime partners in Multimatic and M-Sport.
Multimatic built the iconic Ford GT and will now assemble the new Mustang GT3s.
Ford’s partner in the rallying world, M-Sport, will be the brains behind the Ford Performance developed 5.4L Coyote-based V8 engine that will power the new “Pony”.
The car also features bespoke short-long arm suspension, rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, carbon fibre body panels and aero package.
These factors have made Ford Performance global director Mark Rushbrook very excited.

“For a project like the Mustang GT3, we turned to two of our most trusted partners in the motorsports world to help bring this vehicle and program together,” he said.
“I know we’ll all be as thrilled as Ford fans when Mustang begins racing at the highest levels of GT racing in 2024.”
The Ford Mustang GT3 is expected to race across a variety of series all over the world from 2024.
Two of those will be from a Ford Performance factory backed program in the IMSA GTD Pro class.
The factory team will be managed by Multimatic Motorsports and begin the new chapter at the 2024 Rolex 24 at Daytona.
But the first customer to jump on board with the “Blue Oval” is Proton Competition, which will take on the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The team currently races Porsche 911 RSR-19s with Julien Andlauer, Christian Reid, Mikel O Pedersen, Ryan Hardwick, Zachary Robichon, Hary Ticknell, Brendan Tribe and Ollie Millroy behind the wheel.
Whilst there is a job to do at Le Mans this weekend, Proton Competition team principal Christian Reid cannot wait to drive a Mustang.
“This is a very important program and an exciting moment for our organisation,” he said.
“The Mustang is a great brand and this is an important step for our team. We look forward to joining with Ford starting in 2024.”
