New backer for national Excel series

By Thomas Miles

The Excel Racing National Series has received a boost ahead of its season opener at Queensland Raceway next month, with a new major sponsor.

EFS 4×4 Accessories has signed on as the major sponsor of the national platform for Hyundai Excel racing in Australia.

The company is a well recognised brand in the motorsport world, having been seen on the doors of Ryal Harris’ SuperUtes and Super2 cars recently.

EFS Excel Racing National Series category manager Brett Peters said the announcement is a further step in the right direction as plans press on for the season opener.

“EFS are well-known for their sponsorship of Ryal, but they’ve been a big supporter of our Queensland-based Track Attack Excel Cup, and they’ve also been heavily involved in other motorsport activities such as the Gen 3 Experience Camaro ride car at Queensland Raceway,” Peters said.

“We’re thankful they’ve come on board for the national Excel series and their support will enable us to further enhance the professionalism of the series in its first season.”

The 2023 EFS Excel Racing National Series fires up at Queensland Raceway on June 2-4 as a major part of the 2 Day of Thunder event alongside TA2 Muscle Cars, QLD Production Cars, QLD Porsche Cup, QLD Heritage Touring Cars/Group N, Replica Tourers and Australian Trans-Am.

Some of the leading Excel racers from around the country are expected to line up on the grid such as multiple Australian champion Cam Wilson, Victorian front-runner Hugo Simpson and Queenslander Ryan Casha, fresh from his dominant 6 Hour supports drive.

The series will run under the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series banner and will also race at Sydney Motorsport Park and Calder Park.

It will use the same technical regulations as the Track Attack Australia Queensland Excel Cup.

This will ensure drivers are allowed to run coil-over suspension systems from approved suppliers, while Nankang will be the control tyre supplier.

Peters said these are important changes for the beneficiary of the category.

“Being a grass-roots motorsport category where competitors are learning about car setup, we wanted to provide a degree of adjustability, so we’ve permitted the installation of coil-over suspension systems from common suppliers such as Supashock, MCA and XYZ,” Peters said.

“The Nankang control tyre is used extensively in Europe and it’s highly-regarded – it performs consistently throughout its lifespan and it has proven to be durable enough to last multiple rounds.”

The 2 Days of Thunder event will be held on June 2-4 and tickets are available HERE
