Lisle impresses as Sharp takes British F4 opener

By Timothy Neal

Noah Lisle capitalised on his great qualifying pace, with the young Aussie taking P2 behind his NZ Carlin teammate Louis Sharp, with the Kiwi proving himself a star on the rise.

Lisle set the qualifying lap record at Donington park to start on pole for Race 1, but Sharp got the jump on the West Aussie, before a red-flag on Lap 3 brought the pack back-together.

Sharp managed to keep the lead on the grid restart, but Lisle kept at him, setting lap record after lap record in his bid to chase down the talented kiwi charger.

Despite the incredible lap times, Lisle finished +0.582s behind Sharp, who claimed his third British F4 victory.

“The pace was really strong, but it’s a shame I didn’t get the start right cause we’ve got the pace to get up front and drive away,” Lisle said.

“Especially seeing that by the end of the race we caught Louis up, and I think it was a new lap record as well, so the pace was clearly there, we just needed it to come on a bit sooner.

Rodin Carlin’s Noah Lisle has some serious pace for 2023, and will start from pole in Race 3 at Donington Park

“But it was a solid race from the team all-round to secure the one-two, and we’ll see how we go tomorrow, really happy though.”

Along with Sharp, it’s Lisle’s second year in the F4 on British soil, and he looks to be a threat for Carlin this season, as the Rodin Carlin team also got the perfect start, with local talent Daniel Guinchard making it a 1-2-3 for the Surrey based outfit.

The pair will start from the rear of the grid in tomorrow’s fully flipped Race 2 grid, but the young Aussie will start on pole for Race 3, as well as getting the extra championship point for the fastest lap.

Fellow Australian James Piszcyk took out P10 in his British F4 debut for Hitech GP.

Race’s 1, 2 and 3 can be watched live or in replay via the British F4 YouTube channel.
