Andre Heimgartner has grabbed the Supercars preseason Gen3 bragging rights at SMP, topping Erebus’ Will Brown in a Camaro dominated session.
The #8 BJR Camaro edged out Brown by just 0.015s in the four hour second session, with BJR’s Jack Smith a surprise top five finisher in both sessions with a P3 and P5 to round out a strong dayfor the 23-year-old.

It was a strong day all round for BJR, as Macauley Jones improved into a P4 over the second stint, with Bryce Fullwood also finishing just +0.540s behind Heimgartner to sit in P6.
Brodie Kostecki also found an extra two seconds of pace to take P3 in the second stanza, as did Shane van Gisbergen, putting in a late 1:30.247 to finish in P7, to finish over Winterbottom to make it all Camaro top-eight, with Hazelwood and Feeney rounding out the top 10.
In an all Camaro top-Eight, BJR featured heavily throughout both sessions
Aside from a nondescript red flag to end the first session, there weren’t many off’s overall, except for Feeney running off late in the second session, which can be seen in the highlights video attached.
Nick Percat also stopped on track late on the piece, with a loose steering wheel contributing to the issue.
The day’s historic preseason testing at SMP also had a few guests get behind the wheels of the new Gen3 vehicles.
Making some guest appearances were Enduro drivers Richie Stanaway and Garry Jacobson, for Triple Eight and Tickford respectively, as Declan Fraser missed the testing due to illness.
S5000 star Joey Mawson also made an appearance in Tim Slade’s #23 PremiAir Camaro, who hopes to perhaps get an Enduro run this season.
Dylan O’Keefe also suited up for PremiAir, whilst Tyler Everingham also hoped in a Tickford car over the mornings session, along with Triple Eight boss Jamie Whincup briefly driving Feeney’s Camaro.

'description' => 'The Supercars Championship, currently known as the Repco Supercars Championship, is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia\'s biggest sports. It originated from the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC), which held its first race in 1960 at Gnoo-Blas in Orange, New South Wales. The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series. Other notable drivers include Dick Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Craig Lowndes, Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, who holds the record for the most championship titles, and Mark Skaife, who has also been a dominant force in the series.
The Bathurst 1000, held at Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, is arguably the most famous race in the Supercars calendar. Other significant races include the Sandown 500 and the Adelaide 500, which are known for their challenging circuits and thrilling competitions.
