Supercars has offical launched the 2023 season and Gen3 era today with four new-look race cars in front of Sydney Harbour.
Reigning Supercars and Bathurst 1000 champion Shane van Gisbergen was present with his #97 Triple Eight Race Engineering Chevrolet Camaro.
With him was former Holden squad Walkinshaw Andretti United, which has made a high-profile switch to Ford in 2023. The team’s lead driver, Chaz Mostert, was on hand with his white #25 Mustang.
Completing the quartet were Dick Johnson Racing and Team 18 veterans Will Davison and Mark Winterbottom.
The four drivers posed with their new Gen3 cars and the championship trophy and Bathurst winners’ Peter Brock Trophy.
All 25 drivers will be present at tonight’s major launch event, which will also be held at the New South Wales capital. The Supercars world has descended on Sydney ahead of Wednesday’s official test day.
Racing also commences in New South Wales for the third straight year with the Newcastle 500, which kicks off a 12-round season.
The season than progresses to the Australian Grand Prix, Perth and Tasmania SuperSprints. Top-end races Darwin Triple Crown and and Townsville 500 return in their traditional time slots before Supercars goes night racing at Sydney.
August sees a trip to South Australia for The Bend SuperSprint, which is the final solo round before attention turns to endurance racing.
The Sandown 500 will make a celebrated comeback after four years away on September 15-17, while mark Sunday, October 8 as “Bathurst Day” on your calendars.
The 2023 Supercars season will finish on a high with the high-profile Gold Coast and Adelaide 500 events.
Only 18 days await until the action begins.
