Brown to tackle TCR in latest-spec Audi

By Timothy Neal

Will Brown enters the 2023 TCR season in the latest-spec Audi RS 3 LMS, in a bid to take his second national TCR title.

The Erebus Supercars driver took out the 2019 title, and returned in 2022, almost pinching a last gasp championship at the Bathurst International behind Tony D’Alberto.

Brown will take over Jay Hanson’s Audi TCR from last season that took four wins and three pole’s, which has been rebuilt by the Melbourne Performance Centre, who along with Liqui Moly, will see Brown through the season.

Aiming to become the first dual TCR champion in Australia, the 24 year-old Supercars/TCR driver is excited to compete in the new-spec Audi.

“It’s awesome to partner with Liqui Moly and MPC in a brand new Audi RS3 LMS TCR,” said Brown.

“To have the new-specification Audi this year and be ready to hit the track with  Liqui Moly is just awesome, I’m just ready to get into it.

“Obviously last year was pretty disappointing to come second and nearly win the title in that awesome last race at Bathurst.

“I’m just excited to get back out there in the new car and we’re trying to win the title, which is why I am here.

“It’s great that the series winner from last year, Tony D’Alberto is back in 2023 alongside many of the other contenders, so I’m sure there will be lots of tough racing again.

“It just adds to all the racing that I’m doing, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Brown has taken seven races in his two TCR seasons to date, and holds a World TCR ranking of 25.

“It is fantastic to welcome Will Brown back to our team for the 2023 TCR Australia Series,” MPC director Troy Russell added.

“Will jumps into the car that Jay Hanson drove last year, who for a rookie proved very fast!

“We expect that a driver of Will’s calibre will be just as fast and provide our team with a chance of putting him right up the front.”

Stan Sport will provide live, uninterrupted and on-demand coverage of all Shannons SpeedSeries rounds.

AWC Race Tasmania will also feature free-to-air broadcasting on the Nine Network’s digital channels on Saturday afternoon from 2-5pm.

Brown will start his title pursuit at AWC Race Tasmania on February 24-26.
