Female racer to take on Carrera Cup

By Thomas Miles

The Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup will be splashed with pink as Courtney Prince steps up to the national series this year.

Prince will race in the distinctive pink BWT colours that have been seen on Racing Point and Alpine F1 cars, plus in the Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup.

Her drive has been created by a newly formed partnership between BWT Australia and Porsche Centre Melbourne, where she will race alongside Nick McBride, Marc Cini and Matthew Belford.

Prince joins the Carrera Cup field after being a frontrunner in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge.

A solid campaign, highlighted by three straight podiums at Sydney Motorsport Park saw her finish fourth in last year’s championship and now she steps up the “Porsche pyramid” from the Junior to Pro level.

Prince is aware of the challenge ahead, but said she “is ready” to tackle it head on.

Courtney Prince will be racing a striking pink BWT #32 car in the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia championship.

’I’m excited to be stepping up to the Carrera Cup with Porsche Centre Melbourne Motorsport and BWT Australia on board to support me,” she said.

“I know it’s a big step, but I’m ready and with the support of the team can’t wait to see what 2023 brings.”

Prince started her racing career as an 8-year-old racing go-karts before eventually graduating to Formula Ford level as the youngest female to race in the talent-producing championship.

She competed in the Australian National Formula Ford Series in 2018 and 2019 with Sonic Motor Racing.

A move to cars followed and last year she finished fourth in both the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge and Aussie Racing Cars Series.

Prince makes the step up to Carrera Cup with one of the top outfits in Porsche Centre Melbourne Motorsport Team.

The Collingwood based squad won three straight Carrera Cup Australia titles from 2011, 2012 and 2013 with the dominant Craig Baird behind the wheel.

Porsche Centre Melbourne general manager Piero Pellegrini said it was an honour to expand the team with Prince and BWT on board.

“Motorsport has always been a vital part of Porsche Centre Melbourne,” he said.

“We’re very proud to be expanding our operation and welcoming BWT Australia and Courtney on board. Having a dedicated motorsport department is a unique environment for our dealership.”

The eight-round 2023 Carrera Cup Australia season begins at the Australian Grand Prix on March 30-April 2.
