Erebus and Kostecki reflect on “flawless” first Gen3 shakedown

By Thomas Miles

Erebus Motorsport is currently in the middle of its second day at Winton shaking down its pair of Gen3 Coke Camaros.

Will Brown has been putting car #9 through its paces at the 3km circuit today (Tuesday) 24 hours after Brodie Kostecki marked Erebus’ Gen3 debut.

It was a milestone moment for the team with its in-house built cars getting some laps under their belts ahead of the all-in Sydney test next Wednesday.

Kostecki was the first to hit the Winton tarmac and said the shakedown could not have gone any better.

“It was a great day to finally get onboard our own car after driving the (Supercars) prototype for about a year,” he said.

“I was pretty excited when I woke up to drive my first ever brand new Supercar.

“The car ran flawlessly and we went through the entire program.”

Kostecki’s engineer George Commins backed up his driver’s sentiments, stating the new car #99 was “perfect” from the moment it rolled out of the garage.

“I would say the car ran as perfect as it could,” he said.

“We did short runs, long runs and a lot of setup changes.

“We got a good grip on what it is and isn’t doing. We have a good head start I think.”

Erebus Motorsport’s fact-finding mission has continued today with Brown behind the wheel, while he also has plenty of company.

All four Brad Jones Racing Chevrolet Camaros have made their on-track debut after Andre Heimgartner, Bryce Fullwood, Macauley Jones and Jack Smith all released their liveries recently.

Super2 runners Zak Best, Kai Allen, Cooper Murry, Jordyn Sinni, Matt Chahda, Zane Morse and Jack Perkins are also getting some laps in before Newcastle.
