Carrera Cup joins loaded 2023 Adelaide 500 support card

By Thomas Miles

After the Adelaide 500 was reborn last weekend, plans for the sequel in 2023 are already in full swing with a stacked support card locked and loaded.

Many of the categories that drove around the streets of Adelaide this year such as the Dunlop Series, S5000, GT World Challenge Australia and Touring Car Masters will all return.

But a new arrival will be the Porsche Carrera Cup, which will visit the street circuit for the first time since 2020.

The country’s premier one-make category replaces the Aussie Racing Cars to complete the support category line up for the 2023 VALO Adelaide 500, which will be slightly earlier taking place on November 23-26.

Just days after its successful return the countdown is already on for the 2023 return with Robbie Williams ready to entertain as the headline concert act, while fans can jump on board and take a ride with tickets on sale via Ticketek.

After a rushed build up to make the race happen in a matter of months, CEO of South Australian Motor Sport Board Mark Warren said preparation to make are already at top gear more almost a year in advance of racing.

“We saw some incredible racing on the streets of Adelaide last week and we are already counting down the days until the next event,” he said.

“The quality and intensity of racing was on full display at this year’s VALO Adelaide 500, and we will once again offer a world-class motorsport line-up in 2023.

“We are working hard to ensure that we build on the success of the 2022 event and the line-up of support categories will ensure that we bring four days of action-packed racing for our fans while also showcasing our incredible racetrack to the world.”
