Love coup for Bathurst International

By Timothy Neal

Jordan Love has been announced to compete at the Bathurst International on November 11-13 in the GT World Challenge for Harrolds Racing.

Love will drive with GT regular Ross Poulakis for the three hour event in a familiar Mercedes AMG GT3, with Chris Batzios and Sam Brabham to take the Harrolds Racing Mercedes GT4 entry.

The international Aussie endurance star will race in Australia for the first time since 2019 after leaving to contest the Porsche Supercup before joining the GT World Challenge Europe as a Mercedes AMG driver.

The Western Australian product is a two time one-make Porsche Champion on home shores, winning the Porsche Sprint Challenge in 2017, followed by taking out the Carrera Cup in 2019.

More recently, Love has contested in his second Spa 24 Hour, as well as several rounds of the Nurburgring Endurance Series with the Haupt Racing team, driving with the team owner, Hubert Haupt.

“Heading back to home soil and especially back to Bathurst is very exciting for me,” Love said.

I love Bathurst and it’s been a few years since I’ve driven there, so I’m even more pumped to see what it’s like, especially in a Mercedes AMG GT3 car I am now very familiar with but yet to drive up on the Mountain.

“Teaming up with Ross (Poulakis) and the Harrolds Racing team I’m confident will be a great fit and I owe them a big thank you for their efforts in getting back here for the event.”

Poulakis is also thrilled to be able to share a car with Love, as well as making his own debut at the   legendary Mount Panorama track.

“I’ve never driven Bathurst so I’ve grown up watching Bathurst my whole life so it will be a pinch myself kind of moment,” Poulakis said.

“I’m really, really excited for that, we have shifted our focus from The Bend to Bathurst and again hopefully we can come away with a great result.

“We’re thrilled to have Jordan join us this weekend. He is experienced in both the car and at Bathurst and he will be a massive asset to draw on throughout the weekend. He is a great talent and we’re excited to have him come back to Australia and put his European experience into use.”

Having a driver of Love’s quality is a big boon for a team that’s shown recent good form, and is looking to push for victory at Bathurst after scoring several podiums on the run in both the GT3 and GT4 categories.

Poulakis took his second consecutive victory in the GT3 Am class at The Bend, whilst the Batzios/Brabham GT4 pairing was a close-run second at the same event.

Harrolds Racing will hit the track at The Mountain this Friday for the opening practice session, followed by a second practice session and the two-part qualifying on Saturday.

The three-hour endurance race commences at 10:40am AEDT on Sunday, 13 November and will be broadcast live on Stan Sport.
