Morrow Becomes First Female S5000 Racer

Elly Morrow will make history on the streets of Surfers Paradise this weekend as she becomes the first ever female to race in the S5000 category.
The current Super2 Series competitor will leap into single-seater competition after getting signed up for 88 Racing for the upcoming S5000 Tasman Series.
She will be behind the wheel of the #88 ACMFinance S5000 entry at the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 this weekend and aims to take the fight to the likes of Joey Mawson, Nathan Herne and Jordan Boys.
Morrow graduated from karting to the Dunlop Super3 and now Super2 series’ with Brad Jones Racing and currently sits 13th in the standings with one round remaining.
The 23-year-old has fought hard to be ahead of big names such as Ryal Harris, Angele Mouzouris and Nash Morris and hopes to finish the year on a high at the Adelaide 500.
But first she will be facing a different form of V8 power this weekend on the streets of the Gold Coast and she cannot wait to take on an open-wheeler on a new circuit.
“I’m super grateful for the opportunity Albert and the team at 88 Racing have given me to contest the S5000 Tasman Series this weekend,” Morrow said.
“It will be my first time in the car at the Gold Coast, so I’m keen to learn as much as possible and see what we can achieve together.”

Elly Morrow will take on the streets of Surfers Paradise in an 88 Racing S5000 in the opening round of the Tasman Series.
The 88 Racing team owner Albert Callegher said he was proud to be opening opportunities for more young talent to tackle Australia’s top open-wheel category.
“Being the fastest cars in Australian circuit racing, the ACMFinance and 88 Racing team are excited to have a female driver on board to showcase what talented female drivers can bring to the world of motorsport in Australia,” he said.
“We are passionate about giving young drivers the chance to race in open-wheel racing and when the opportunity came for Elly to drive, we were thrilled.
“I hope she inspires other young female Australian drivers to race in our category.”
Morrow and the rest of the S5000 Tasman Series field will hit the track tomorrow, ahead of qualifying and three races across Saturday and Sunday.
