CAUCHI TO ENGINEER HOLDSWORTH IN TOWNSVILLE

By Dan McCarthy

Grove Racing Team Principal David Cauchi will sub in as Lee Holdsworth’s race engineer this weekend.

Cauchi is an experienced race engineer, having won the Supercars Championship as an engineer at Triple Eight Race Engineering with Jamie Whincup in 2014 and 2017 and most recently Shane van Gisbergen last year.

Cauchi controversially moved to Grove Racing this year taking on the role of Team Principal, however will slide back into the roll of race engineer for Holdsworth as the regular #10 engineer Will Davidson tested positive to COVID-19 on the eve of the team’s departure from Melbourne.

“Unfortunately, Will has been struck down with COVID and won’t travel to Townsville,” said Cauchi.

“I certainly didn’t expect to be back engineering a car this year, but I’m looking forward to getting back on the tools with Lee, he’s a very experienced driver and we know the areas we want to improve car #10.

“Hopefully we can come together and get a strong result for the team this weekend.”

Alistair McVean will continue his role with David Reynolds on the #26 Grove Racing Ford Mustang.

Supercars Championship track action begins tomorrow with Practice 1 commencing at 10.10am AEST.
