NEW JAMES COURTNEY LIVERY REVEALED

By Dan McCarthy

Tickford Racing driver James Courtney will debut a brand-new livery this weekend, the round in which he will make his 500th Supercars Championship race start.

The Ford driver will be backed by FLEX Power Tools for the third round of the Supercars Championship, the Melbourne 400 as part of the support card at the Australian Grand Prix.

Courtney, whose Mustang will be renumbered to 500 this weekend, will become the ninth driver in Australian touring car history to make 500 race starts in the category, and is thrilled to welcome FLEX to the team.

“It’s fantastic to have FLEX Power Tools on board our Mustang,” Courtney said. “It’s a bit of a bonus because I’ve been doing some work on the house up in Queensland, I’d be lying if I said there weren’t a few products that caught my eye, so we’ll keep that chat going.

“But I’m really looking forward to this weekend, what with it being the Australian Grand Prix and ticking over 500 races myself, it’s going to be a huge weekend and the FLEX Mustang looks great.

“The team’s had some success at Albert Park in recent years and the cars have been pretty speedy, obviously we’ll be looking to keep that trend going and be fighting at the front in our new colours.”

Courtney will debut a new livery at the Australian Grand Prix.

FLEX Power Tools specialise in the industrial power tools sector, from grinders, sanders, polishers, and more.

Though new to the Australian market, FLEX is amidst a milestone of its own, founded in 1922, it celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.

Barry Crowhurst, the General Manager of FLEX, expressed his excitement ahead of the brand’s debut weekend in the Supercars Championship.

“The Australian Grand Prix is one of Australia’s biggest events, and James Courtney is one of Australia’s most successful drivers, so to support his car and Tickford Racing at this event is a hugely exciting opportunity for FLEX,” Crowhurst said.

“FLEX is celebrating its centenary in 2022 but is very new to Australia, and I can’t think of a better way to introduce FLEX to Australians than through a loud, V8-powered Supercar adorned in FLEX branding at the Australian Grand Prix.

“We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Tickford Racing and cannot wait for the weekend ahead.”

Today Courtney and the rest of the Supercars Championship grid will roll out for two practice sessions, and the first two qualifying sessions.
