Hot off the back of winning two TCR Australia races at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, Fabian Coulthard has announced that he will return for Round 3 at Bathurst.

Following the two wins Coulthard shot up to fourth in the standings and has committed to racing a Wall Racing Honda Civic Type R TCR car at the Mount Panorama Circuit during the Easter long weekend.

After a tough opening round in Tasmania the 13-time Supercars race winner rebounded to finish fourth in Race 1 and win the final two races of the weekend.

Coulthard is looking forward to jumping back behind the wheel of the Stan Sport Honda around the legendary 6.213km circuit.

“It’s great to be back for Bathurst. We’re having a lot of fun doing it and winning so trophies, so for me, it’s a win-win,” said Coulthard

“For me, Bathurst is the unknown. I’ll have to go away and collate all of the information that I can to try and get the information myself to see what the cars are like there.

“There’s no substitute for driving it. I went on iRacing earlier to drive a TCR car at Phillip Island, and it turns out it’s similar, but not perfectly accurate as I would have liked, so I’ll just get a feel for it.

“It feels good (to get my first wins). The first one was a reverse grid, so it was nice to win, but nice to win outright when all of the quick guys were at the front.

“I had a great battle with Will Brown at the front in that final race. It was nice, clean and fair, so it was good to come away with the win.

The New Zealander finished on the Bathurst 1000 podium back in 2017 with his Wall Racing teammate Tony D’Alberto.

The Honda Civic Type R machines all struggled at Bathurst last year and will be a challenge for three of the top four men in the championship.

Entering Round 3, D’Alberto leads the standings by two-points from GRM Peugeot driver Jordan Cox.

Honda privateer Zac Soutar is 21-points behind Cox in third, while Coulthard is a further two points behind.

Stan Sport will continue to back Coulthard at Bathurst and is looking forward to the event itself.

“What a weekend for Fabian and the Stan Sport Honda at Phillip Island. Two race wins and he has moved up to fourth in the standings. He did an excellent job,” said Ben Kimber, Director of Stan Sport.

“Mount Panorama is such a special place for drivers, teams and fans, and we definitely wanted to ensure that we had Fabian back in our car in TCR at the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour.

This is an event that is growing by stature every year, and we are looking forward to bringing it into the homes of Australian sports fans like you’ve never seen before.”

TCR will be the lead support category at the event to the Bathurst 6 Hour, other classes include the National Trans Am Series, the Australian Pulsar Racing Association, NSW Historic Touring Cars and NSW HQ Holdens.

All of the action will be live, ad-break free and can be viewed on demand exclusively on Stan Sport in Australia.
