IT’S A BIG WEEKEND OF MOTORSPORT TO WATCH AND ENJOY

By Timothy Neal

This weekend is full of motorsport, with heaps of racing action happening locally and around the world including Formula 1, IndyCar and WEC.

Locally, this weekend sees the running of the first round of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships at fabulously fast and flowing Philip Island.

The Nationals racing caters for all forms of interest with the snarling TCR turbo tin tops, thundering S5000 open wheelers and all American muscle car action with the Trans Am. The mighty Sports Sedans are set to entertain as well, with heaps of racing action over the weekend all available to view on Stan Sport with over 12 hours of coverage.

IndyCar highlights this weekends international racing menu, with heaps of interest in local heroes and Team Penske teammates Scott McLaughlin and Will Power. The pair are set to fight it out at the front of the field on the super fast, high banked, 1.5 mile Texas Motor Speedway.

Fresh from his first IndyCar win on the streets of St Petersburg, Scott McLaughlin is on a charge and will be in contention for another great result, not forgetting this was the track where Scott earned his first IndyCar podium in 2021.

It should be a great battle with Penske teammate Will Power who was also a podium finisher at the first race of the season, not to mention a whole field of stars all wanting to take a race win. All the qualifying action and the race is available live and on demand on Stan.

Neither Toyota will start from pole position at Sebring for the World Endurance Championship race tomorrow

This weekend also sees the start of the FIA World Endurance Championship, with the first round being classic sports car race, the 1000 miles of Sebring.

With qualifying done and dusted, Nicholas LaPierre has taken the first pole of the 2022 World Endurance Championship (WEC) season, guiding his Alpine Elf Team to the front of the grid at Sebring International Raceway. The question posed after practice was whether reigning champion Toyota was holding some pace back – after qualifying it still remains to be seen if the two Japanese Hypercars cars will fight for a race win. Time will tell as there are plenty of other teams that make this form of racing great entertainment.

So if you are looking for some motorsport action to enjoy there’s plenty to choose from on Stan Sport, you can watch these races either live or on demand.
