NEW LOOK FOR BOWE IN TCM

NEW LOOK FOR BOWE IN TCM

By Timothy Neal

Australian motorsport legend John Bowe will return to hunt his seventh Touring Car Masters title in 2022 sporting an all-new livery and bolstered sponsorship.

Long-time supporter Rare Spares has increased its backing to become the joint naming-rights partner of Bowe’s program, joining Paynter Dixon and PAYCE.

As such, all three backers are featured prevalently on his newly wrapped red and white Holden Torana.

“I’ve been a Rare Spares brand Ambassador for over 15 years now,” Bowe said.

“We’re changing the colours of the car to reflect Rare Spares’ larger role but the livery will continue our retro theme, as it should in TCM.

“I’ve been so fortunate to have a long line of loyal and special supporters in my time in TCM and have enjoyed a great following from the category faithful.

“I’m looking forward to TCM now running under the ARG umbrella – their ambitions and aims for the category echo my own.

“I look forward to seeing everyone at the track this season and hope people come and say hi.”

Since retiring from Supercars in 2007, Bowe has dominated the Touring Car Masters category, becoming the first driver to reach 100 race wins with several titles under his belt.

No less than 34 of those 100 wins have come aboard the Torana, which Bowe will again steer in 2022.

“I would also like to acknowledge Gary O’Brien from Bendigo Retro Muscle cars and his dedicated team who not only built the Torana A9X in the first place but have continued to prepare it and run it to 3 championship wins in its 5 years of competition,” Bowe said.

“They are a fantastic group of racing people.”

The Touring Car Masters series gets underway at Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend alongside the Sydney SuperNight event.

A strong field, including the return of three-time champion Steven Johnson and the full-time debut of George Miedecke, will tackle practice and qualifying on Friday ahead of two races each on Saturday and Sunday of the Sydney event.
