Formula 2 and Formula 3 are set to feature a revised points system from next season.

In the latest change announced by series organisers, both Formula 1 feeder categories will see a revised points allocation across their race weekends.

As previously announced, both F2 and F3 will revert back to a two race per round next year, while additional rounds have been added to both schedules.

Across both series, the points for the Feature Race will remain the same, using the same allocation used by Formula 1, with 25 points awarded for first place, 18 for second, 15 for third. Dropping down to a single point for 10th.

The first of the changes will see the points awarded for securing pole position halved, down to two points next season.

An additional point will also be awarded to the driver that sets the fastest lap in each of the two races per weekend.

Where the two series will be different in 2022, is when it comes to the reverse grid Sprint Race.

The grid for the Formula 2 Sprint Race will be determined by reversing the top 10 from the qualifying results. The winner of this race will be awarded just 10 points, with the points awarded 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 from second to eighth place.

In Formula 3, the grid for the Sprint Race will be determined by reversing the top 12 drivers from qualifying. Again the winner will be awarded 10 points, but points will be allocated 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 all the way to the tenth place finisher.

The changes will see the maximum of 39 points that a driver will be able to score in a single round.

Organisers for F2 and F3 have reiterated that the Sporting Regulations are still subject to World Motor Sport Council approval.
