Brabham Automotive has announced that High Class Racing will take on the responsibility of running the Brabham BT63 GT2 Concept in its debut race at Circuit Paul Ricard.

The Danish team will be tasked with operating the new machine in France at the GT2 Championship season finale from October 1-3.

David Brabham, Sporting Director of Brabham Automotive, will take the wheel of the Brabham BT63 GT2 Concept, alongside Dennis Andersen from High Class Racing.

High Class Racing currently lead the GT2 Championship Pro-Am series with 4 wins, 6 podiums, 2 Pole Position and 7 fastest laps to date, and recently competed in the LMP2 class in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Brabham takes on the task with extensive driving experience, having won Le Mans three times and competed in Formula 1.

The 56-year-old also drove the Brabham BT62 to victory in its inaugural race at Brands Hatch in 2019.

Brabham referred to that occasion when expressing his excitement about piloting the new concept.

“This represents a significant milestone in the growth of Brabham Automotive, similar to the win-on-debut of the Brabham BT62 when I crossed the finish line at Brands Hatch in 2019,” Brabham said.

“The FGT2 European Series run by SRO will pose a wonderful test against some serious competition, a challenge we look forward to.

“We look forward to working with High Class Racing, and I look forward to driving with Dennis Andersen at this historic event for Brabham Automotive.”

Andersen has driven in the LMP2 Pro-Am category with High Class Racing since 2016 and will be driving a GT2 car for the first time in this assignment.

The Dane believed this opportunity was significant for several reasons.

“I am very happy to share this experience with a legend like David,” Andersen said.

“It will be my return to GT, a category I last raced in 2016, and I’m really looking forward to it.

“This event will be very important, not only for Brabham, as they are making their official debut in this category with the aim of racing the full season in 2022, but also to my teammates and friends, Anders and Mark, as they are fighting for the title.

“We will do our best to help them to achieve their goal. Personally, I’m hoping to get used to the car quickly so that I can enjoy every session, and we’ll try to achieve the best possible results”.

The Brabham BT63 GT2 Concept was designed, engineered and built in Australia by the same team that delivered the Brabham BT62 and BT62R, and is powered by a 5.2 litre, naturally aspirated Brabham V8 engine.

Brabham Automotive intends on entering the BT63 into GT2 competition full-time for the 2022 season, pitting the new entrant against Audi, KTM, Lamborghini and Porsche machines.
