Bayley Hall has confirmed he will step up to Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia in 2022, and be the first to commit to the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 992).

The McElrea Racing driver who scored a podium on debut in the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge at the start of the year will graduate to the top tier of Porsche competition in Australia next season.

“The prospect of competing in the pinnacle of Porsche Motorsport in Australia is surreal.” said Hall

“Like many, there’s been huge sacrifices and hard work to get me to where I am today and I couldn’t be prouder or happier of what we’ve achieved so far.”

“I’m very excited about what the McElrea team and I can do next year and I can’t thank everyone involved enough, including all those who have gotten me to where I am today. I can’t wait to get in the new 992 and give it all I’ve got.”

The 18-year-old Queenslander has proven himself to be quite the talented GT racer despite his short career to this point. Hall has also competed in the Australia GT Championship and has a Bathurst 12 Hour podium finish under his belt competing in Marc Cars Mustang V8.

Team Owner Andy McElrea is looking forward to continuing to work with the youngster, whose proven success in Porsche competition has aided in developing the likes of Matt Campbell and Jaxon Evans enabling them to progress internationally.

“At MR, we are really thrilled to announce Bayley as our first Pro driver signed for the 2022 Carrera Cup Australia season in the new 992 Cup car.” said McElrea.

“We have been fortunate enough to have been on pole for the first race of the last three generations of new 911 Cup Cars in Australia – the 997, 991:1 and 991:2 – so we have no doubt, Bayley will be pushing hard to be at the front from the start of the new era and stamp his name in the record books as soon as possible.”

Porsche Carrera Cup Australia will switch over to the new 992 generation 911 GT3 Cup cars at the start of next season with Porsche Cars Australia (PCA) expecting 30 of the latest generation race cars to arrive in Australia later this year.
