AUGUST ACCESS ON AT PHILLIP ISLAND THIS WEEKEND

Hyundai Excel Racing - Budget Priced Specials

Circuit racing will return to Victoria on August 8 in the form of a modified ‘August Access’ event at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Held by the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club (PIARC), the race meeting will take place over just one day on Sunday, giving groups the opportunity to race in a celebration of club motorsport.

The event will also be used as a training ground for new officials.

PIARC were thrilled to welcome Victorians back to racing.

“Since joining the Victorian motorsport landscape in 2015, PIARC’s August Access event has grown into a favourite on the calendar for officials and competitors alike,” a statement said.

“We would like to thank all the officials, competitor groups, PIARC members, Phillip Island Operations and Motorsport for their continued support over the lockdown and we are back again to provide our mantra of access to motorsport.”

August Access will feature categories such as BMW E30s, Superkart and 2-litre Sports Sedans.

In addition, the event will feature an all-new PIARC Combined Sedan category with 55 entries at this stage.

Other categories include the Hyundai Excel’s, Saloons Cars, and GT including both GT3 and GT4 classes.

PIARC has traditionally held a multiple-day event featuring interstate entries, however border restrictions have forced the event to be downsized to a single day of local competition.

Despite the end of lockdown in Victoria, COVID-19 restrictions dictate that no spectators will be allowed at the circuit. Only the entrants, nominated crew and registered officials will be present on the day.

Entries are still available for all classes via the Motorsport Australia event entry portal.
