THREE SUPERCARS BIDS AXED

By Bruce Newton

At least three prospective Supercars championship ownership bids are believed to have been culled, leaving at least three live prospects to go on to the next stage of the process.

AUTO ACTION has been told by reliable sources the three bids that have entered the championship ‘data room’ to conduct due diligence are the Mark Skaife/TLA grouping, the Australian Racing Group and a third consortium.

That means the high profile consortium led by businessman and motorsport identity Peter Adderton has not progressed.

However, a bid by the Peregrine Corporation owned by the Shahin family is potentially still in contention.

The Adderton bid also reportedly included Paul Morris, Peter Smith, Mick Doohan and Alan Gow. It was controversial because it reportedly advocated no ownership stake for teams.

Adderton fuelled speculation his consortium’s Supercars ownership bid was over when he posted a cryptic social media post.

The championship is currently 65 per cent owned by Archer Capital and 35 per cent by the teams. The sale is being handled by Miles Advisory.
