Toyota’s entry into Supercars is moving quickly, with new teasers showing both the GR Supra’s bodywork and chassis build as the official launch date is set for September 1 in Sydney, ahead of Bathurst.

The latest video shows composite panels being fitted to the Supra, giving fans their clearest look yet at the new model. Toyota shared the process on social media with an Instagram preview: Bodywork preview.

Another update came from Brad Jones Racing, which released footage of its workshop team welding the first in-house GR Supra chassis. The clip shows the build taking shape as Toyota’s Supercars program accelerates: Chassis preview.

Walkinshaw Andretti United, the homologation team for the project, has also repurposed a 2025 Mustang chassis into a Toyota spare for 2026, adding to the preparation.

The Supra will run a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated 2UR-GSE V8, the same engine found in Lexus F performance models. Six cars are confirmed for the grid in 2026—two operated by WAU and four by BJR.

WAU is targeting an August shakedown for its first Supra before the official public launch on September 1. The timing coincides with WAU’s move into a new $100 million Melbourne facility in April 2026, which will become the team’s long-term base.

Toyota will become the third manufacturer on the grid alongside Ford and Chevrolet, marking the first time in more than a decade that three marques have contested the Supercars Championship.
