BMW M4 GT3 TO DEBUT THIS MONTH

BMW’s new M4 GT3 will debut at Round 4 of the NLS at the Nurburgring in a four-hour event.
Drivers are yet to be revealed, but it will race the SP-X class for non-homologated models in the race to take place on June 26.
Revealed ahead of this weekend’s Nurburgring 24 Hour, which will be the last hurrah for the marque’s successful M6 GT3, the new model is adorned in BMW’s traditional racing livery of blue, white, red and black.
The model the M4 GT3 replaces debuted back in 2015 as a BMW Motorsport developed product and won the 2016 Spa 24 Hour with Rowe Racing. Last year, the M6 GT3 won two rounds of the worldwide Intercontinental GT Challenge, while Nick Catsburg and Augusto Farfus took the drivers’ title.
Featuring a straight six-cylinder, turbocharged engine, the M4 GT3 has been developed together with the road-going model by BMW’s performance offshoot, M Motorsport.
“The development work on the BMW M4 GT3 is now on the finishing straight, and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring is the perfect stage on which to present the car in its BMW M Motorsport design and thus to herald the final phase leading up to the first race outings,” said BMW M CEO Markus Flasch.
“The new BMW M4 Competition provides the perfect basis for the BMW M4 GT3, whose engine was designed from the outset for use at the racetrack.
“This underlines how road car and race car development always go hand in hand at BMW M GmbH.
“The new car offers state-of-the-art technology, thanks to our technology partners.
“They are among the best in their respective fields, and we are delighted to have them supporting us on the development of the BMW M4 GT3 with their specific know-how and areas of expertise. That is the perfect basis for a successful new race car.”
Confirmation of the M4 GT3’s debut follows an exhaustive testing program totalling 14,000km covering more than 70-hours since July 2020.
Augusto Farfus and Jens Klingmann have completed most of the testing at a variety of circuits including the Nordschleife.
Pricing for the newest GT3 model has also been released starting at €415,000, while an optional ‘Competition Package’ for endurance events is available.
