West Australian Calan Williams has left the pre-season FIA Formula 3 Championship test at Barcelona at the top of the timesheets.

Setting a 1m 32.518s lap time during the opening hour of the afternoon session, Williams’ time remained unbeaten for the remainder.

Ayumu Iwasa placed second for Hitech Grand Prix, 0.470s behind the outright pace, while the Australian’s Jenzer Motorsport teammate Pierre Louis Chovet completed the top three demonstrating the improved performance from the Swiss squad.

Roman Stanek and Caio Collet completed the five, with Jack Doohan 22nd in the session after scoring second in yesterday’s running.

The afternoon session was slower compared to the morning when Doohan finished third, recording a 1m 31.803s to be 0.167s behind pacesetter Victor Martens.

Alexander Smolyar split the duo, while title contender Logan Sargeant and Clement Novalak completed the top five.

Williams placed 14th, but only 0.561 off the pace highlighting what is expected to be an incredible close season in FIA Formula 3.

This completed the pre-season test for FIA Formula 3 before the opening round of the season at the same venue on May 7-9 as Doohan and Williams hope to emulate fellow Australian Oscar Piastri’s success from last year.
