Queensland-based Supercars teams will run to the border today amid an anticipated extension of the lockdowns, which came into force on Monday at 5pm.

Dick Johnson Racing, Matt Stone Racing and Triple Eight Race Engineering had already moved personnel located within the lockdown zone into New South Wales, but to eliminate the risk of being caught out by an expansion of the lockdown regions, which is expected to include the Gold Coast area, teams have elected to relocate to Sydney.

It follows a directive issued by Supercars to team personnel located on the Gold Coast to be on standby to relocate.

Triple Eight Race Engineering will race at this weekend’s Bathurst 6 Hour as part of the GT World Championship Australia one-hour events, bringing a significant number of its personnel to support the effort.

Dick Johnson Racing has already confirmed that they are across the border after completing a mad dash to pack its truck last night and entered NSW early this morning.

Matt Stone Racing is continuing its set-up prior to an expected leave time of this afternoon, but an earlier departure hasn’t been ruled out.

It is expected Supercars will announce contingency and temporary set-up plans for these teams today.
