As previously reported, BJR has purchased a new Racing Entitlement Contract after the Blanchard family ended its five-year partnership with the team at the end of last season.
BJR’s new REC was purchased from former 23Red Racing team owner Phil Munday after the Tickford Racing customer squad pulled out of the 2020 Supercars Championship after the Australian Grand Prix due to major sponsor Milwaukee Tools pulled its support.
This left driver Will Davison on the sidelines until Bathurst where he co-drove alongside Cameron Waters to finish second.
During the remaining rounds of the 2020 season the REC was used by James Courtney featuring support from long-time backer Peter Adderton’s company Boost Mobile to complete the Supercars Championship.
Doubt surrounded the future of Jones, but this announcement confirms Jones of a third season in Supercars.
“I’m heading into my third year now in the Supercars series,” said Jones. I’m very excited to be moving forward and being able to race in Australia’s top Motorsport category and have a crack with BJR in 2021.
“We’ll also be heading into next year with some internal changes with Kim now stepping away and retiring so I’m looking forward to getting to work closer alongside my dad and building on the success we had in 2020.
“I’m enjoying the downtime now however my off-track preparation has already begun for next year to ensure I come back as strong as ever ready for the season to kick -off. I’m looking forward to a new year, a new look and seeing what BJR can accomplish as a whole in 2021.”
Team owner Brad Jones was also thankful for CoolDrive’s support of BJR.
“It’s been great having John, Tim and Grandpa Blanchard a part of BJR for so long,” Jones said.
“We’ve made some great memories and they’ve assisted Macauley get to where he is today. I wish them all the best in the upcoming year and a successful future.”
Munday confirmed he has leased his two Ford Mustangs to CoolDrive where it will field a single entry from its Box Hill head office, hotly tipped to be driven by former BJR driver Tim Slade.

'description' => 'The Supercars Championship, currently known as the Repco Supercars Championship, is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia\'s biggest sports. It originated from the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC), which held its first race in 1960 at Gnoo-Blas in Orange, New South Wales. The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series. Other notable drivers include Dick Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Craig Lowndes, Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, who holds the record for the most championship titles, and Mark Skaife, who has also been a dominant force in the series.
The Bathurst 1000, held at Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, is arguably the most famous race in the Supercars calendar. Other significant races include the Sandown 500 and the Adelaide 500, which are known for their challenging circuits and thrilling competitions.
The Supercars Championship has grown to become a globally recognized series, known for its competitive racing and passionate fan base. It continues to be a major part of Australia\'s motorsport culture, attracting top drivers and teams from around the world.',
