Hugh Barter wins Richard Mille shootout
Young Australian driver Hugh Barter has won the Richard Mille Young Talent Academy after a two-day shootout at Le Mans.

Barter, who was recently featured as an Auto Action Young Gun, will next year contest the French F4 Championship supported by watch manufacturer Richard Mille.
One of 10-drivers selected globally from within Birel ART’s talent pool, Barter (nominated by Australian distributor Patrizicorse) was subject to training and on-track tests at the FFSA Academy located at Le Mans using the Bugatti layout during October 12-13.
First, the contenders were subject to physical and mental assessments within the FFSA Academy facility led by Dr. Riccardo Ceccarelli’s Formula Medicine before the on-track segment of the competition took place in the afternoon.
This was then followed by interviews between
Utilising the Bugatti layout at Le Mans, drivers were provided a video guide of the circuit and highlighted the circuit’s particulars by FFSA Academy Instructor Malo Olivier, before each driver familiarised themselves with the F4.
Each driver completed five runs with a final three drivers selected with Barter being crowned the winner ahead of Swedish driver Albin Karlsson and Craig Tanic of France.
Barter’s journey to France began three weeks prior when he tested a Formula 4 car in preparation for the event at Winton, before jetting off not long after to Italy before heading to France to contest the Shootout.
This is the third edition of the Richard Mille Young Driver Academy with Frenchman Enzo Valente and Mexico’s Rafael Villagomez previous winners.
