Fox Sports has increased its live coverage of weekend’s Formula 1 Grand Prix return in Austria to include support categories which will feature several Australians.

In recent years Fox Sports has broadcast both the FIA Formula 2 Championship and Formula 3 Championship races as well as the Porsche Supercup event.

However, with increased Aussie presence the network has upped its coverage, and for the first time, the Formula 2 and Formula 3 qualifying sessions will also be broadcast live.

While we don’t have any Aussies in Formula 2 this year, we have many scattered across Formula 3 and Porsche Supercup.

Formula 3 qualifying takes place in between F1 practice 1 and 2 from 10.05pm AEST, with Race 1 at 6.20pm on Saturday and the reverse grid affair at 5.40pm on Sunday.

The F3 Championship will see no less than four Australians competing in the extremely competitive 30 car field.

Auto Action columnist Oscar Piastri will be making his debut in the series after winning the Formula Renault Eurocup championship in 2019.

Piastri joins reigning teams’ champions Prema, the Italian squad dominated the series last year, with its three drivers locking out the top three places in the drivers championship.

For this reason alone, the 19-year-old Renault academy driver heads into the season as one of the title favourites along with his teammates Frederik Vesti and Logan Sargeant.

Alex Peroni returns to the championship this year after his 2019 campaign ended early, after the Tasmanian suffered a fractured vertebra in a big crash at Monza.

Peroni will again compete for Campos Racing and looked very strong in pre-season testing back in March.

Jack Doohan, son of five-time 500cc Motorcycle World Champion Mick, and fellow Aussie Calan Williams will both make their FIA F3 Championship debuts in Austria.

Doohan will be competing for HWA Racelab and Williams with Swiss team Jenzer Motorsport.

New Zealand Red Bull junior driver Liam Lawson returns in 2019 and will be looking for race wins in a competitive Hitech Grand Prix machine.

The Porsche Supercup race will also be shown live on Sunday night at 8.25pm AEST in the lead up to the Formula 1 race.

Two Australian Carrera Cup Series winners will be competing in the race, Kiwi Jaxon Evans will return to the category after scoring two podiums at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium and Mexico last year.

Reigning Australian Series winner Jordan Love will make his debut in the series driving for Fach Auto Tech, the team with which Matt Campbell finished third in 2017 Porsche Supercup.

One Kiwi is contesting FIA F2, after finishing as runner-up in the F3 title in 2019 Marcus Armstrong makes the step up into the second-tier series.

Armstrong will be hoping to emulate what George Russell did in 2018 and win the title for ART Grand Prix in his debut season.
