RENAULT ACADEMY DRIVER JOINS ESERIES AS WILDCARD

Renault Sport F1 Academy Junior Christian Lundgaard is the latest international to earn a wildcard entry to the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries.

The eighteen-year-old Danish FIA Formula 2  driver will join the Kelly Racing outfit in a second Castrol backed Ford Mustang to this week’s races at Michigan International Speedway and one more yet to be named venue.

Lundgaard has represented the Renault’s F1 Team Formula 1 in the Virtual Grand Prix Eseries scoring podiums and was joined by Kelly Racing driver André Heimgartner’s for the Albert Park event earlier this year.

“I’m very much looking forward to this opportunity and having a go at something which is completely new to me.” said Lundgaard.

“I’d like to say a huge thanks to Renault DP World F1 Team, Castrol, BP, Kelly Racing and Supercars for making it happen.”

“As always, I’ll do my best and take it step by step. We don’t do racing if we’re not going to try and win, so I’ll try my best to win but at the same time have as much fun as possible and look to learn a few bits and pieces along the way.”

Lundgaard is one of a number of wildcards for this weeks round with drifter ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett (#123 Red Bull Holden), former Supercars regular Michael Caruso (#10 Monster Energy Mustang), TA2 driver Aaron Seton and Super2 race winner Jordan Boys (#49 Joss Holden) also confirmed.

Round 9 of the Supercars All-Stars Eseries will take place from 7pm this Wednesday evening, live on Fox Sports and on Supercars social media platforms.
