Cameron Waters has taken the covers off his Monster Energy sponsored Tickford Racing Ford Mustang that he will drive in this year’s Supercars Championship.

In October last year both Waters and Monster Energy signed multi-year deals to remain with Tickford Racing. The three-way partnership originally formed when the Victorian entered the Supercars championship as a rookie in 2016.

Last season the former Sandown 500 winner finished a career-high seventh in the Supercars Championship, recording six podiums and a pole position along the way.

Waters is eager to continue the rising momentum from last year as he aims to challenge for race victories.

“It’s exciting to unveil the livery for the new season, and I’m really keen for the start of the year,” said Waters.

“We had a pretty strong 2019 and have worked really hard in the offseason to improve our results in 2020.

“I’m definitely pumped to be starting my fifth season with Tickford Racing and Monster Energy, and I’m stoked to kick the season off next week in Adelaide.”

The 2020 Mustang livery retains a majority of the aesthetic elements carried throughout last year, but Waters pointed out a number of subtle changes.

“The most obvious difference is the green behind the grill, which goes with the green headlights the fans loved last year,” Waters said.

“The bigger change for us though is we’ve actually painted the car this year instead of wrapping it, thanks to PPG. It’s not a massive change visually, but the paint comes off a bit flatter and makes the Monster green pop a bit more.”

Some people will say it looks the same, but really it does look better, and I can’t wait to get it out on track.”

A race victory eluded Waters last year, but three consecutive podium finishes early on was certainly encouraging for the 25-year-old.

The release of the new Mustang livery comes as Scandia Australia re-signed with the team to remain on the #6 car after joining the team last season. In 2019 Scandia signed as the naming rights sponsor on the Tickford wildcard entry driven by Thomas Randle at The Bend.

“Last year we introduced Scandia to Supercars and had a great year together,” said Tickford Racing CEO Tim Edwards.

“It was a scary good start, we set the bar pretty high with Cam on the podium in Adelaide and the Australian Grand Prix events, and Scandia stepped up to sponsor our wild card entry which was pretty exciting for all of us. We’re rapt to continue with Scandia in 2020 and look forward to another great season.”

The entirety of the field will take to The Bend Motorsport Park next Tuesday for the pre-season test ahead of the first round of the season which begins on Thursday February 20.
