Newly crowned TCR Australia Series winner Will Brown is ecstatic to have sealed his third national title with a round to spare.

The success comes after a lean period in the second tier Super2 Series where he has taken a solitary win in three seasons, but his success in Formula 4 and the Toyota 86 Racing Series first bought the Queenslander attention in 2016.

Driving a HMO Customer Racing prepared Hyundai i30 N TCR, Brown has taken six victories and finished in the top three in 12 out of the 18 races so far this season showing incredible consistency.

Shortly after taking the title, Brown spoke to Auto Action and was clearly elated to win the series.

“Pretty exciting to wrap up the inaugural Australian TCR Series, it’s pretty cool,” Brown said.

“I can’t thank the boys at HMO Customer Racing enough it was great.”

Brown was also very complimentary of the inaugural series and the job the Australian Racing Group has done.

“It’s the first season, TCR Australia have done a great job and it is fantastic,” he expressed.

Despite winning the series with a round to spare Brown was disappointed to take the title with a seventh-place finish after making a mistake and spinning into the wall at Turn 3 on the opening lap.

“I completely ballsed it up, it is a bit bittersweet,” he told AA.

“I lost the rear all by myself and spun, but we were able to get back up to seventh and that secured us the championship.”

Brown performed double duty at Sandown Raceway transitioning from his normal front-wheel-drive 2.0l turbocharged TCR car to the rear-wheel-drive 5.2l S5000 open-wheel monster, which failed hamper his weekend results.

“We had the pace it was just disappointing what happened,” he said.

The Erebus Motorsport co-driver is already looking forward to defending the TCR Australia crown in 2020.

“Hopefully we will come back stronger next year and give it another crack!” he said.

All gloves will be off when Brown races at the final round of the TCR Australia Series at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia from November 15-17.
