Bathurst Regional Council has released a shortlist of the three expressions of interests (EOI) for a potential fifth event at Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit.

Of the six expressions of interests received last month, the local council has shortlisted three potential suitors for the final full Mt Panorama track closure as allowed through New South Wales legislation.

Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM confirmed that the EOIs from Australian Racing Group & CAMS, Mountain Motor Sports and Supercars had made the shortlist.

“Council will now seek additional information from each of the shortlisted parties to further assess the suitability of their submission and is unable to comment further until this process is complete.” read a statement released by the council.

It has been suggested that the Australian Racing Group, who promote the TCR Australia Series will seek to use their application, in conjunction with CAMS, to potentially bring the WTCR to Australia.

Mountain Motor Sports are known for their association with CAMS rival AASA, promoting a four round Tarmac Rally Championship. Although it’s unclear if their intention is to run a rally-style event at the venue.

Supercars, who currently promote both the Bathurst 1000 and the Bathurst 12 Hour, are yet to make a formal comment on plans for their potential third event at the mountain.

Yeehah Events who currently promote the Bathurst 6 Hour and Challenge Bathurst did not submit an EOI.
