Red Bull junior squad Toro Rosso has unveiled its challenger for the 2019 Formula 1 World Championship.

The STR14 that Alexander Albon and Daniil Kvyat will drive in F1 this year was launched overnight with the teams distinctive metallic Blue and Red livery.

In 2019 Toro Rosso will share closer technical ties with the primary Red Bull team, with the two not only sharing Honda’s engine package but also gearboxes, rear suspension and some front suspension parts as well as some electronic and hydraulic components.

“We don’t want to set a specific target – at least not now.” said Toro Rosso Team Principal, Franz Tost.

“All things considered, the quality of the synergies with Red Bull Technology, the belief in our very high level of in-house technical knowledge, the impressive development trajectory Honda has shown so far, and the couple of strong young drivers we have available make me feel confident.”

Both of the team’s drivers return to the Red Bull programme after being dropped, Kvyat returns for his third stint with the team.

“Like everyone else, we are working hard to put the best package together and the best thing I can do for myself is to work as hard as possible on myself and on my performance.” said Kvyat.

While F1 rookie Albon was part of Red Bull’s junior development programme until 2012.

“The way I’ve gone about my career and my racing is I never set any goals on anything. Every year, it was just each race, take it step by step, focus and race in that session – whether it would be practice, qualifying or the race.” said Albon.

Toro Rosso will join the rest of the F1 teams at the preseason test in Barcelona on February 18.
