The 2018/19 Formula E calendar has been finalised following a meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council last week.

It has been confirmed that the third round of the championship, previously listed as TBA, will be held in Santiago. While Bern will replace Zurich as the host of the Swiss round of the all-electric championship in June.

Chile’s round in Santiago returns to the schedule after making its debut earlier this year. Although 2019 event will be moved to Parque O’Higgins following feedback from the local residents on the previous Parque Forestal location.

“I’m incredibly happy that Santiago will again feature on the ABB FIA Formula E Championship calendar for season five, said Alberto Longo, Co-Founder & Chief Championship Officer at Formula E.

“I have particularly fond memories of the event last year and I really like the atmosphere of the city and backdrop against the Andes. I’d like to thank the Mayor Felipe Alessandri for his support – as well as the Minister of Sport Pauline Kantor, the Minister of Energy Susana Jiménez, the Intendenta de la Región Metropolitana Karla Rubilar and the President of FADECH Mauricio Melo Avaria for making it possible to host a race in Chile. Parque O’Higgins is an ideal location for an international sporting event such as ours.”

The late change to the Switzerland round follows a historic reintroduction of motorsport to the European nation after six decades.

“It’s a milestone season for Formula E with the introduction of the new car and we’ve put together a calendar to match our ambitions as a truly global sport.” said Agag.

“It’s fantastic news to return to Switzerland this coming season on the streets of Bern for the Julius Baer Swiss E-Prix.

“We collectively made history last season in Zurich – successfully hosting a professional circuit race for the first time in the country in over six decades.

“Now we’ll be making history once again by bringing the ABB FIA Formula E Championship to the Swiss capital of Bern – I’d like to extend my thanks to Mayor von Graffenried and his team. I’m already counting down the days to the start of the season.”

Formula 5 season five will commence in Saudi Arabia on December 16th before travelling across Africa, South America, Asia, Europe and North America to conclude on the streets of New York on July 14th 2019.
