It was Chaz Mostert, who struck first blood in the first Supercars night action for more than 20 years by topping the opening Practice session for the Sydney Motorsport Park SuperNight 300.

Mostert took the top spot with his final lap of the session, a 1m 28.8546s pipping Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Scott Pye by 0.2047s, while Tickford teammate Mark Winterbottom rounded out the top three.

Rick Kelly led the Nissan charge in fourth, followed by Scott McLaughlin, Nick Percat, Jamie Whincup, James Courtney, Shane van Gisbergen and David Reynolds in 10th.

Anton De Pasquale finished lead rookie in 11th ahead of Craig Lowndes in a drama free session.

The Supercars return to the track tomorrow for the final Practice session at 1:20pm.
