CHAZ MOSTERT TO MACAU

By Heath McAlpine

PRODRIVE RACING Australia driver Chaz Mostert will compete in this year’s FIA GT World Cup in Macau on the November 16-19.

Mostert will drive one of two BMW M6 GT3s entered by the AAI Motorsports squad with reigning DTM champion Marco Wittmann driving the second. BMW will also be represented by a third car, the 18th BMW Art Car designed by Cao Fei.

Wittman has previously raced at the Guia circuit with AAI in 2014 and qualified third for this year’s Bathurst 12 Hour race, teaming with Mark Winterbottom and Steve Richards.

It will be a new circuit to learn for Mostert, who currently sits fourth in the Supercars Championship heading to Bathurst. He qualified second for this year’s Bathurst 12 Hour and dominated the opening hour.

The FIA GT World Cup is an annual event, which has moved to a more manufacturer and Pro-driver structure for this year. First won by Mercedes and Maro Engel in 2015, the event ended controversially last year when Laurens Vanthoor crossed the line first, despite his Audi being on its roof.

The race takes place a week before the final round of the Supercars season in Newcastle.
